This single-family home in the Sunnyside Neighborhood is positioned to take advantage of commanding views that the site offers. The views sweep from the box canyon peaks above the town of Telluride to the east, over the ski runs of Mountain Village to the south, and finally land on Wilson and Sunshine peaks to the west. The lot was encumbered with existing massing and height restrictions, which made it a challenge to incorporate the almost 13,000 square feet of program space requested by our clients. Our solution was to nest half of the residence into the ground, which resulted in a low-slung, one-story massing that felt at one with the open, rolling landscape of the lot.
